WebProWorld Members,
It's been awhile, and with all the recent talks lately I thought now was a good a time as ever to bring back everyone's favorite topic - politics. Don't go thanking me yet, as you don't know why we're discussing politics today. I do ask you take your bias hats off, as this article has nothing to do with the following: President Obama, Arizona, BP, Louisiana, republicans, democrats, or Ross Perot.
Instead, I want to bring up a relatively small poll sponsored by Google , and conducted by Clarus Research Group. They surveyed 1,000 people, gathering their thoughts on opinions regarding government agencies and using new technologies to help cut spending and improve efficiency. The short answer is that people support the idea, but Clarus goes into detail a bit more in their press release:
"A new nationwide poll found that 92% of U.S. voters believe 'public agencies should make better use of new technologies to cut government spending and improve efficiency.'"
"When told the “City of Los Angeles contracted out the hosting and management of its e-mail system to Google, and was able to improve services and save over a million dollars a year as a result,” 72% of voters said they want their state and local governments to seriously consider doing the same with their e-mail systems."
If you're feeling fishy about the poll, you're not alone. The survey was sponsored by Google, and the results support the idea of the Government adopting Google Apps to help save money. So, take all of this information with a grain of proverbial salt. It does bring up an interesting point though; should the government look to the private sector for their tech?
A year or two ago, I wrote an article about how the terrorist watchlist database used a complicated SQL programming language. This caused rampant problems, with FBI and other organizations having trouble accessing the database. There were also frequent reports of the system crashing. Instead of typing in a name or other information, a complicated string of SQL code was required to receive intel. This led to the investment of a major overhaul, and talks of bringing in private help surfaced.
What are your thoughts in bringing in the private sector to increase efficiency for national, state, and local governments? Is Google the answer?

Google in shock reveal of AdSense revenue shares. Cut is 51 per cent
Google in shock reveal of AdSense revenue shares.
Google has revealed exactly how much revenue it shares with third-party websites who run text advertisements brokered through its AdSense service.
With a Monday blog post, the company said that under its AdSense for content program - which serves those familiar "Ads by Google" onto webpages - sites receive a 68 per cent cut of revenues. But under its AdSense for search program - where sites offer a customized Google search box - the cut is 51 per cent... |

Troubleshooting an HP PS1300 Printer
Maybe I am missing something here.
I am printing with no difficulties. Out of the blue, the printer just stops printing. The jobs seemingly spool (they don't get caught up in that printer queue which seemingly doesn't want to delete), but no action from the printer.
I reset the printer, it prints a test page - it is physically capable of printing, plenty of ink I can control the printer's scanner from the computer...
The troubleshooter detected that your parallel port might be malfunctioning, which could be the cause of the problem. If your port is malfunctioning, you might be able to solve the problem by removing and reinstalling the port.
OK, fair enough, but then why is the scanner still working?

Mobile-enabling my website...
It is about time that I mobile-enable my website. I am looking into the advice from this article: "Make Your Site Mobile-Friendly in Two Minutes"
Granted, it is older, but there are recent comments and my developer said it looks like it should work. I summarized it here - if you can give your kind critique:

Press Release Submission Tips
There are tons of method which you can use to drive traffic to your site. One of them is Press Release . Below are some of the tips you can follow:
1. Your press release should look and sound like a news, remember this is a press release. Not an ad or sales letter trying to do the selling.
2. Send it to media which are related to your topic.
3. Keep it short and simple ( KISS )
4. Put your header, contact information and release date on top of your press release.
5. Your header must be able to grab people's attention.
6. Put your description of your business or product in the body of the press release.
Anymore press release tips which my fellow webproworld can share.
